2017 Galleon Agency Portfolio Tasting

wine tasting

Traditionally, Ontario wine agencies and countries with significant exports to Ontario organize portfolio tasting during May .

This year so far, Burgundy domaine – , New Zealand-, Greece-, Oregon- and California wineries proudly poured their products to an eager public and the trade.

Italian wineries stage their annual tasting in November. In June Chianti producers’ come to Toronto to showcase their wines and later, Italian food processors, and wineries offer their products.

Galleon is the up scale offshoot of a large agency, and for the first time organized its portfolio tasting. The agency’s portfolio includes Queylus, a small quality oriented winery in the Niagara Peninsula.

This winery, although small, is much revered by sommeliers for its pinot noir, chardonnay and Bordeaux blends. In all, 30 wines were available to taste, but I tasted 28.

Some of the wines are special imports (allow six to eight weeks), consignment products (two to three days). A few will be offered as Vintages releases.
