Errázuriz – one of Chile’s foremost wineries introduces four extraordinary wines

Of the five South American countries, Chile and Argentina stand out in quantity and quality.

By most experts in the field Errazuriz is one of the best. Eduardo Chadwick has done more to promote Chilean wine than anyone else.

He travelled to Europe and organized several blind tasting in Berlin, and London, pitching his best wines to the best of France and Italian products

Last week he introduced four of his flagship wines that are now available on line at the L C B O.

Don Maximiniano Founder`s Reserve, 2014, Aconcagua Valley.
A blend of cabernet sauvignon ( 68 per cent ), carmenere (18), petit verdot (5), malbec (9) this dark brilliant red wine smells of brambleberries, raspberries, and cherries. On the palate, it is  juicy, spicy, and supple supporting ripe flavours of red fruits. Full-bodied, well balanced with a fine grained tannins. Intense and persistent.
A top drop.

La Cumbre, 2013
This 100 per cent syrah red is dark leaning to black, Expect lavender, violet, black- and blueberry aromas. In the mouth the wine exudes richness, and layered fruit flavours. Full-bodied and intense.
Long aftertaste.
Enjoyable now, but will improve with five to eight years of cellaring.
Pair with medium-rare grilled steaks, whole roasted beef tenderloin, Sauce Bearnaise, roasted rack of venison, Sauce Hollandaise, aged hard cheeses.

Kai, 2013 Composed of camenere (90 per cent), petit verdot ( 7),and syrah (3) this 14.5 per cent ABV wine exudes aromas of ripe red fruits underlined with black pepper, paprika, and flowers. Bright acidity with vibrant juicy core. Full-bodied, elegant and rich. An absolutely delicious with that deserves to be enjoyed with pates, aged hard cheeses, game stews, beef specialties, and roasted leg of lamb.

Cabernet Sauvignon, 2014
His is an elegantly layered wine with silk refined tannins. Well-structured, elegant with good acidity and fruit.
The fruit of this extraordinary wine comes from a 15 hectare Alto Maipo vineyard with gravelly slope and the vines are pruned to yield low. This has resulted in an intense wine, the likes of which can seldom be found. Long aftertaste.
Pair with aged chases, roast rack of lamb, roast leg of lamb, game stews, beef Wellington, Chateaubriand Bouquetiere, whole roasted sirloin of beef, Sauce Bordelaise.
