The Great Ocean Road

By far the most scenic coastal drive you can do in Australia, it is worth taking the time to explore this area. Portland accommodation overnight will give you time to take in the sights of this maritime town. Taking the cable tram from attraction to attraction makes sightseeing so much easier.

Port Campbell accommodation for a few days will place you in the perfect position for day trips to the famous sites along the Great Ocean Road. Within just minutes driving distance, you can visit the 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and Gibsons Steps.

Philip Island

Philip Island is famous for it’s Grand Prix racecourse. But it is also famous for it’s true blue Aussie wildlife that is in abundance. Don’t be surprised to come across koalas, penguins and pelicans while you are staying here. The kids will love it and so will you!

New South Wales to Queensland

The long winding road from New South Wales to the top of Queensland has some great places to stop and rest to make your journey a bit more interesting. Stop at these places for a guaranteed great holiday.

Byron Bay

Byron Bay is a very well known tourist destination, and this is for good reason. In Byron Bay you will find a laid-back, friendly lifestyle and it won’t be long until you find yourself kicking back and enjoying the sun as well. Relaxation is on the cards, as Byron Bat is also known for the abundance day spas and massage outlets available. Spend your days at the beaches and your evenings in the pubs and clubs dancing the night away. The friendly locals will make your stay an absolute pleasure. Accommodation can be expensive in this little area of paradise but there is also the option of caravan parks and the balmy weather means camping can be on the agenda.

Gold Coast

Stop at the Gold Coast for the sun and the surf and even a spot of shopping. But also stop here if you have family so you can play in the many theme parks on offer. Make sure you leave room in your itinerary to take in the fun and excitement of places like Sea World, Movie World, Dream World and Wet n Wild. Buy the family a three-park pass to save money. The kids will be thrilled and you will all be talking about the scary rides and funny animal attractions for the rest of the road trip.

Fraser Island

If your idea of a road trip is actually 4WD’ing off the road, head to Fraser Island. You can spend hour after hour driving along the pristine sandy white beaches. It doesn’t get more coast than that! You can also opt to head inland and drive on the sandy trails in the middle of lush rainforests.
