This Vintages release features Sonoma County and Golden Oldies that are presented with 10 wines. According to the catalogue, these are well aged. I found most of them past their prime. There is a profound difference between aged and mature wines. Matures wines give you a sense of completeness, and harmony, and that factors contributing to its flavour and texture converge perfectly.
Aged wines occasionally may taste mature, but in this release the 10 wines selected are just “old” numerically speaking), taste less vibrant than they y have tasted two or three years ago.
Some people like “old” wines because they are smooth but offer less in aroma, flavour, texture and depth. They may be delicate but lack vigour and power.
North American consumers like young and vigorous, super fruity wines high in alcohol, but European drinkers prefer well aged, well balanced, still vigorous wines.

Peated Cask Reserve Speyside Single Malt, The Glenrothes, Scotland
Light gold in colour. Spiced peach, plum honey aromas lead to crisp fruity flavours in the mouth. Peat flavours are faint. Malty. A fine sipping whisky.

Nutmeg aromas dominate the first nasal impressions. Smooth, light, elegant, and refined.
Poire Williams Tradition, Eau-de.Vie, G. Miclo, Alsace, France
Pronounced ripe Williams pear aromas dominate the nose. In the mouth, spice and nut flavours evolve. An outstanding spirit to be enjoyed by contemplating a pear orchard with ripe pears ready for the picking.

Saturated brilliant yellow. This full-bodied chardonnay smells of appeals and pears underlined with almond favours.
High in alcohol (14.2 per cent ABV) it is smooth and satisfying.

Inky dark red. Strawberry and blackberry aromas dominate the nose. In the mouth, this full-bodied wine explodes with juicy storefront flavours. Excellent aftertaste. Cellar for three to four years.
