Professor B’s September 2 Vintages Release Recommendations

Wine tasting
Wine tasting

The theme of this mid-summer release is New World varietals and Syrah.

The varietals offered are semillon from the Hunter Valley in New South Wales, Australia, viognier from California, pinot gris from Oregon, shiraz from Australia, and syrah from Chile.

The outstanding Ornelaia is expensive, but well worth its price. You will need to cellar it for several years.

As for sparkling wines those offered fail to make a great impression. A few rose wines on offer are fine but not great.

Two port wines, and a few spirits complete this release.

Spirits

Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky, Sazerac Distilling, Montreal
Expect cedar and maple aromas at first sniff. In the mouth, spicy flavours emerge but are subdued by the smoothness of the whisky. The finish is remarkably mouth watering, and impressive.
