Professor B’s Vintages May 5 Release Recommendations.

This release offers a huge selection of red wines, two whiskies, one sake, and a few sparkling wines complete the list.
Of the two whiskies (one Bourbon, and one Scotch) offered to wine
Writers. I preferred the Scotch. It is smooth and flavourful. It should be enjoyed with a few drops of water in a snifter, without ice cubes.

White wines:

Chardonnay, 2010, Saintsbury, Carneros Napa, California
This rich, fruity, and oaky wine from Carneros with a smoky and buttered toast flavour is powerful. It has a long and pleasant aftertaste.

Cinnamon, vanilla, cocoa powder, and rose petal aromas waft out of the glass, Well structured, smooth, and rich on the palate.

This grape is popular in Campania and Sicily, It likes warm temperatures. This version has a deep golden colour with ripe peach and tropical fruit notes. Vibrant on the palate with a creamy texture. Excellent depth.

Pinot Noir, 2011, Lailey Vineyard, Niagara peninsula, Ontario
Complexity, and red fruits (raspberry and cherry) stand out. Fresh and fruit forward in the mouth with good acidity and superb balance.

Ripe berry and floral aromas dominate the nose. Full bodied, with a lot of extract. Chocolaty finish. An excellent and flavourful wine to enjoy with flavourful meat dishes.

Deep garnet-purple in colour, this shiraz emanates blackcurrant, and blueberry aromas with hints of tar. Medium to full-bodied with a spicy flavour, this wine ought to be enjoyed with food. It should be cellared for two to three years for extra complexity and smoothness.
