Professor B's May 26 Vintages Release Highlights.


This release offers excellent and original small batch straight wheat whiskey by Bernheim, and an outstanding Ron Metusalem produced according to a Cuban recipe in the Dominican Republic. Both spirits are highly recommended.

White wines:

To Kalon Estate Reserve Fume Blanc, 2009, Robert Mondavi, Napa Valley, California
Robert Mondavi invented term fume blanc fashioned afterteh French appellation called Puilly Fume. Thjis version from one of the best sites in the Napa Valley offers grapefruit and wild herb flavours. It is aromatic and savoury with a refreshing acidity. Superbly balanced and eminently suitable for pastas with chicken breast, herbed grilled chicken, grilled fresh sardines.

Les Noisetiers Chardonnay, 2010, Kistler, Sonoma County, California
Coconut, pineapple and apple aromas greet the nose. In the mouth, the wine offers brisk acidity, vibrant fruitiness, with a creamy texture. A powerful full bodied wine ready to enjoy with deeply flavoured foods, but can be also cellared fro two to three years for further evolution and refinement.

KJ Watson Vineyard Chardonnay, 2009, Closson Chase Winery, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada
A voluptuous wine made with ripe fruit from the Niagara River appellation. The winery is Prince Edward County and the vineyard is in Niagara, but the winemaker (D. Paskus) was able to preserve freshness. Ripe apple and pear aromas dominate. Racy acidity combined with relatively high alcohol level make an excellent combination. The style is reminiscent of Old and new world chardonnay styles. An excellent, flavourful and balance wine to enjoy with seafood.

Nectarine and apple flavours with hints of citrus dominate this single vineyard riesling. Light and fruity with racy acidity.
