Located in Toronto’s business district very close to high-rise office buildings, this two-storey restaurant and wine bar caters to the young and up-coming business people and middle level executives.
Lunches are very busy. After 5 p m crows favour the wine bar, and in the summer the patio in front is almost always crowded. In order to encourage dinner traffic, the management offers complimentary valet parking after 5.30 p m.
There are separate and distinct lunch, dinner and dessert menus along with a long, well-selected wine list though there are several spelling errors.
As is customary, these days wine by the glass is offered in several sizes ranging from 1 to 7 oz. pours.
All menus are designed for quick delivery, and dishes well garnished and presented.
Service is well executed by efficient and knowledgeable wait staff.
The dinner menu boasts Irish organic salmon, rabbit in chanterelle mushrooms and mustard sauce, Ontario rack of lamb among others.
The restaurant interior is comfortable; tables somewhat small in an attempt to accommodate as many patrons as possible to maximize revenue.
The lighting consists of daylight and discreetly installed illumination system during the day.
Dinner service is adequate and non obtrusive. Red’s flavourful dishes are competently cooked, plated and served.
The lunch clientele consists mainly to business executives entertaining clients and tourists in summer.
Red’s is a moderately priced restaurant and recommended for people looking for comfortable surroundings and affordable prices.
The wine bar in the basement offers a light menu, but many wines by the glass. It caters mainly to younger employees from the nearby Toronto Stock Exchange, banks, and other businesses.
