Wine Tasting October 15

This 120 plus release is themed California and Piedmont.
As can be expected, California wines represent a vast choice of red wines and a few chardonnays worth exploring.

Surprisingly, there are no California sparkling wines, nor a big choice of pinot noirs.
I am surprised that there are no dessert wines from California in this release
A few red wines taste over-the-top fruity, and overpriced.

Ridge Zinfandel and Napanook exceeded my expectations, albeit both seem to be on the expensive end.
As for Piedmont, I am afraid the selection is under whelming. A few Barolos and Barbarescos taste of “nebbiolo”, a notoriously difficult grape to grow and vinify.

Surprisingly, there are no white wines ( i.e arneis, moscato d’Asti naturale, not even a ien spumante from the town of Asti).

For cognac aficionados, Hine would be a good choice, even if you don’t smoke cigars.

Cigar reserve Extra Old Cognac, Hine, France
A fiery and robust cognac to withstand the power of cigar smoke. It has a `round mouth feel, is orange to brown in colour with intense caramel, and spice flavours. A delicious cognac to enjoy after an extended meal
