If you like to enjoy a glass of wine with your dinner or lunch but don’t like to visit a L C B O (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) store or if you are shut-in there are a few enterprises in town that let you order by telephone or fax or by IT.
The newest one of such enterprises is Wine Wire. All you have to do is to log on to email@example.com and peruse their offerings, then simply order.
The company carries no inventory; and the order is relayed to the agency that represents the brand in Ontario. A representative will contact you in short order and make arrangements to facilitate delivery. The delivery can be by courier, mal, or any L C B O store. The L C B O delivery route takes two to three weeks, but there is no delivery cost.
All wines on offer are consignment, i.e the agency brings in a lot (anywhere from 50 –200 cases, and stores it at a L C B O warehouse), and promotes the brand to restaurants or households.
This way of buying your wine offers advantages in that the brand is not available at
L C B O stores, but your order must be at least one case of 12 bottles, one case of six bottles pending on how the winery decided to package and ship.
According to the principles, there are presently 200 brands to choose from and the selection is growing every day.
Most prices are reasonable being below $ 20.00 for a 750 ml bottle and the quality will be well above average based on a tasting of six bottles offered at the launch of the company.
One business partner I interviewed told me that in the future the company will offer VQA (Vintners Quality Alliance) wines not available at the L C B O. High-end VQA wines are produced in limited quantities and wineries prefer to sell them through their tasting room.
This new innovative company deserves your support. You are likely to benefit from their selection.
